Eliot R. Brown

Artist & Writer, Marvel Comics

Born in Boston, 1954, Eliot R. Brown was an only child raised in Manhattan by a single mom. His mom got a job at KQ&R, the outfit that sold all the advertising space in Marvel Comics. Key here is the fact that “checking copies” had to be sent to all the advertisers. Sometimes Marvel sent more comics than were needed for that purpose. Little Eliot got many of those extra Marvel comic books. Thanks to mom and her co-conspirators at that ad agency, Eliot began working for Marvel in 1978.

Eliot worked as artist and writer for the Marvel Universe, first edition, for 8 years. Known as “Mr. Technical” because his artwork is more along the lines of technology, architecture, industrial design. Eliot went on to freelance as creator of The Punisher Armory, The Iron Manual (all about Iron Man), and several single pieces for both major houses and some minor. Lately, he’s been blogging about his & his chums’ time at Marvel.

Now in this dazzling future, Eliot can share the history of that fabled Marvel Comics Bullpen, perfectly captured on film. Imperfectly remembered by one who was there (1979-1995).
