Award-Winning Author/Illustrator, Comic Creator
Dave Roman is the author/illustrator of the award-winning Astronaut Academy series and writer of the graphic novels Teen Boat! Race for Boatlantis, Agnes Quill: An Anthology of Mystery, co-author of two New York Times bestselling graphic novels, X-Men: Misfits and The Last Airbender: Zuko’s Story, and co-creator of the Harvey Award-nominated web comic, Jax Epoch and the Quicken Forbidden. He has contributed stories and art to Goosebumps Graphix: Slappy’s Tales of Horror, Nursery Rhyme Comics, and contributed to comics anthologies including Flight 3, Not My Small Diary, and Bizarro World for DC Comics.
In 2005, he was awarded the Web Cartoonists’ Choice Award for Outstanding New Character Design for his weekly webcomic, Astronaut Elementary. It is currently being published by First Second Books as a series of graphic novels under the name Astronaut Academy. In October 2006 his comic Agnes Quill was published by Slave Labor Graphics and in 2008 it was optioned by Paramount Pictures. Roman is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts and worked as a comics editor for Nickelodeon Magazine from 1998 to 2009. He is currently series editor for First Second’s Science Comics. He lives in NYC and draws a webcomic called Starbunny, Inc..
